The Speaker or Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha shall vacate their office:
✅ (a) If they cease to be a Member of the Lok Sabha
When their term as Member of Parliament (MP) ends or is disqualified, their office as Speaker or Deputy Speaker also ends automatically.
✅ (b) If they resign
By writing to the other:

The Speaker resigns by writing to the Deputy Speaker.

The Deputy Speaker resigns by writing to the Speaker.
✅ (c) If removed by a resolution
The Lok Sabha can remove the Speaker or Deputy Speaker by passing a resolution supported by a majority of its members.

A 14-day notice must be given before moving such a resolution.
