📜 Text of Article 90 (Simplified)

The office of the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha becomes vacant in the following ways:


🔹 (a) If He Resigns

By writing to the Chairman (Vice-President of India).


🔹 (b) If He Ceases to Be a Member

If the Deputy Chairman is no longer a member of the Rajya Sabha, he automatically loses his office.


🔹 (c) If Removed by a Resolution

The Rajya Sabha may remove the Deputy Chairman by passing a resolution supported by a majority of all members of the House.

  • 14 days' notice must be given before moving such a resolution.
