📜 Text of Article 62 (Simplified)

Clause (1): When a vacancy occurs

An election to fill the vacancy in the office of the President due to expiry of term must be completed before the expiration of the current term.

✅ This means a new President must be elected before the 5-year term of the current President ends.


Clause (2): Other types of vacancy

If the vacancy occurs due to death, resignation, removal, or otherwise, the election must be held within 6 months, and the new President will serve a full 5-year term.

✅ In such cases, the Vice President acts as the President until the new President is elected.
