📜 Text of Article 80 (Simplified)

The Rajya Sabha shall consist of a maximum of 250 members, made up of:

🔹 (a) Elected Members – Max 238 members

  • Elected by the legislative assemblies of the states and union territories (by proportional representation through a single transferable vote).

🔹 (b) Nominated Members12 members

  • Nominated by the President for their special knowledge or practical experience in the fields of:

    • Literature

    • Science

    • Art

    • Social service
